There have been news and social media rumors that Euphoria on HBO might be axed, which the network has clarified. On Friday, November 8, HBO released an official statement in order to calm down fans, claiming that nothing has altered, so season three is being made. The news came after reports circulated on social media that the Emmy-winning series’ cast and crew were leaving due to repeated production halts and creative disputes.
HBO has announced that shooting for the third season of Euphoria will begin in 2025. The delays have created doubts, but the network believes that the series is yet to grow to a greater extent. HBO’s chief content officer, Casey Bloys, said as much earlier this year when he suggested that Sam Levinson, the creator of Euphoria, is thinking about continuing the story of the series beyond high school.
Euphoria, which began airing in 2019, has its main characters, including Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, and Sydney Sweeney, quickly get famous and acquire significant roles in various big motion pictures and television series.
Zendaya, who leads the show as Rue and serves as an executive producer, has since starred alongside Timothée Chalamet in Dune: Part 2 and most recently debuted in the 2024 tennis-themed film Challengers. Sydney Sweeney also got appreciation in the romantic comedy Anyone But You; Jacob Elordi portrayed Elvis in the biopic Priscilla and also starred in the famous Saltburn.
Fortunately, HBO has clarified that the ‘core cast’ listed above will be coming back for season three, but the look and feel might be substantially less like what is currently anticipated.
Zendaya herself has been equally ambiguous about what lies ahead for Euphoria season three. Even in an interview, this five-time Emmy winner claimed ignorance of many of the aspects of the program’s plot. “It’s only high school drama for so long,” Zendaya added. Maybe the topics that the series presents are also changing along with its characters.
Zendaya’s hint relates to remarks by Bloys, who revealed earlier this year that Sam Levinson was thinking about taking the story out of a high school environment. Speaking to Variety, Bloys stated, “Sam is developing a new vision that he wants to shoot, and at the moment he is having writing sessions.” Levinson has said the future season will be set five years later with a film noir aesthetic that will follow Rue and her moral dilemmas in a post-Purge world.
‘Euphoria’ Season 3 will begin production in January 2025.

Many severe difficulties in the industry arose during the shooting of Euphoria season three, such as the writers’ and actors’ strikes in 2023 and the unforeseen death of actor Angus Cloud, who played Fezco in the series. They caused some setbacks, though HBO drama boss Francesca Orsi has intimated that the series should be ready by 2025.
Levinson has hinted that the third season will be written and styled as film noir and will be focused on Rue and her temptation on how one should live an honorable life when living in the real world. The change indicates that Levinson wants to try different approaches for the show as it excels at offering high levels of drama from Euphoria’s premiere.
Euphoria has now ranked as one of the most popular shows aired on HBO, with only Got being more popular. As for the second season, episodes were watched by 16.3 million viewers on average to prove the show’s influence and its ability to find audiences all over the world.
