COPENHAGEN – A Swedish district court affirmed a decision on Friday that even though PostNord, Sweden’s postal service, post license plates for Tesla Inc. (TSLA.O.), they are not obliged to do so because of the strike. This ruling comes after postal workers from the UGTM, who are supporting mechanics from the IF Metall union, walked off the job in October 2023, in a dispute over the collective bargaining agreement with Tesla.
Although it has affected distribution of license plates due to the post office strike, there are indications that Tesla has devised on having the owners order for the plates on their own. The Nordic region is essential for the company; Tesla does not authorize collective bargaining, arguing that the company treats its employees accordingly to or even better than the demands of the IF Metall union.
However, from the new sales data, Tesla revealed that though there was a labor boycott, there has been an enhanced sale of cars, and Tesla has gotten a bigger portion of the Swedish car market in 2024.
The company has not supplied any comments to a court session’s decisions or the current situation in labor relations issues, including from Tesla.
